SINGULAR :
🔹 Singular (ஒருமை) என்றால் என்ன?
A singular noun refers to one person, place, animal, or thing.
ஒரு பொருள் மட்டும் இருந்தால் அது Singular என்று சொல்லப்படும்.
🎯 எடுத்துக்காட்டு:
Boy – ஒரு சிறுவன்
Book – ஒரு புத்தகம்
Apple – ஒரு ஆப்பிள்
Tree - singular.
2. PLURAL :
🔸 Plural (பன்மை) என்றால் என்ன?
A plural noun refers to more than one person, place, animal, or thing.
இரண்டு அல்லது அதற்கு மேற்பட்ட பொருட்கள் இருந்தால் அது Plural ஆகும்.
🎯 எடுத்துக்காட்டு:
Boys – சிறுவர்கள்
Books – புத்தகங்கள்
Apples – ஆப்பிள்கள்
Trees - plural.
🎯 எப்படி Singular ➡️ Plural ஆகும்? (சில அடிப்படை விதிகள்) :
Singular &Plural விதி :
1. Simply add 'S' :
Ex :Cat - Cats
Cup - cups
Ball - Balls.
2. Add 'es' for the naming words ending with Ch, sh, s, ss, and x :
Ex : Bus - Buses
Torch - Torches
Brush - Brushes
Glass - Glasses
Box - Boxes.
3. * Remove Y and add IES. (Y before without vowel ஆக இருந்தால்)
Ex :Baby - Babies
Story - Stories
Lorry - Lorries
* Remove Y and add IES. (Y before vowel ஆக இருந்தால்)
Ex : Boy - Boys
Toy - Toys
Bay - Bays
Key - Keys
4."By changing their vowels, such as. OO to change EE and AN to change EN :
Ex : Tooth - Teeth
Foot - Feet
Man - Men
Woman - Women
5.Irregular plurals : (Spelling மாறும்) :
Ex : Child - Children
Ox - oxen
Mouse - Mice
6.some nouns are identical in both the singular and plural forms. Many of these are names of animals.
Ex : sheep - sheep
Deer - Deer
moose - moose
sheep - sheep
fish - fishes
salmon - salmon
7. Add ES for some words ending with O.
Ex : Tomato - Tomatoes
Potato - Potatoes
Mosquito - Mosquutoes
Hero - Heroes
Echo - Echoes
Buffalo - Buffaloes
